The Big Draw

Even with the advent of school starting, I remain committed to getting out into this world and using NYC for its True Purpose. The True Purpose changes according to my mood, you know, sometimes the True Purpose is to entertain, other times educate, often times to distract, but always to get me and mine out of the house.  So this past weekend we went to one of The Big Draw events (via Mommy Poppins).  The Big Draw is an event hosted by The Drawing Center.

The Big draw is described as being "inspired by the wildly popular program of the same name in the UK, The Big Draw will engage audiences of all ages in hands-on art projects."  Roan helped me choose our poison, with this grabbing his attention, "Hop, mark, and draw your way through Julia Mandle’s creative variation of hopscotch, inspired by the French version known as “escargot.” Members of J Mandle Performance wear artist-designed and cast chalk shoes to create a giant, spiral game board in this one-of-a-kind interactive performance" because duh, who doesn't like hopscotch??

I just have to say that all three of us are suckers for costumes, and big shoes. This event had both.  After the spiral was drawn by the pretty dancer ladies wearing chalk shoes, we were able to draw in either safe pictures or dangerous ones.  The safe ones were outlined in orange, and the game was to jump on the safe boxes to the center, avoiding the dangerous ones.  Mostly, Roan (and Anson but he won't admit it) loved watching these ladies make the spirals. Hopping about is totally up the boys' alley as well so good times, good times.

This event is held annually, so my advice?  Start practicing your mad skillz on the hopscotch, er...escargot...and go next year.

May your NYC spirit never die!
    No.
    Never.
    Not ever.

But should it pass on, you're all welcome to squander Ro's kidhood with Lord & Lady Losington and the heirs to Duldrom Manor.

I'm just trying to keep up with you - always. If I was half as entertaining as you I wouldn't have to outsource the fun.

Duldrom Manor - near NonElectric Avenue?

Look. I double posted. But the second post is different and better.

I'm sorry I'm ruining your blog. Those security numbers are really sneaky. I can't read them. More like I have to *sense* them.

Still sorry if this entry is ruined. I keep ruining it more.

If you need some groceries or power I have both. Not so much groceries but lots of power. So much power that I am happy to share my power with you. Please comment some of your wishes and I'll grant them.  With my power.
