Kayak Attack!
I can't lie. I psyched myself out and tried to back out of the free kayaking offered in DUMBO. I was there, in line, just waiting and then the monkey brain started....water.....me.....Roan....I've never rowed a boat or a kayak and what in the name of sam hell was I doing taking my son into the East River in a water craft, huh missus??
But Anson talked me down and told me to do it and Roan even chimed in and said he wanted to go with me (but readily added that he felt safer with Dad. Nice.) So with my sister, Lori in the front (also feeling nervy, and in fact I think I picked up on hers and called them my own but what's new? I'm a big copy cat of hers since we were kids, it doesn't seem to be going away) we pushed off. And it was totally easy and non-threatening and then I remembered that I really need to do things that scare me more often because clearly scary things are not insurmountable. Free Kayaking in DUMBO. Do it.
Also, I have to mention how awesome it is in DUMBO that the old tennis-shoes-tied-together-and-strung-over-the-telephone-line-to-mark-gang-territory shtick has been altered to fit the climate of the neighborhood. I love whoever did this, forever. And furthermore, I love one more thing. I love that while walking to our Kayak challenge, we of course stumbled through an Asian Super-Hero movie being filmed. Can't wait to see this one in the theaters.

Kudos to ya !
Are you sure it wasn't the swat team filming. Also the string babies are an update on the Jefferson Airplanes Album Blows Against The Empire, track 2 "Baby Tree".
